High school GPA calculator
Add your classes for each year. Type a letter (A-) or a percent (92) for each grade. Both unweighted and weighted GPAs are shown.
Enter grades and credits to see your GPA.
Your cumulative high school GPA is every course grade (A = 4.0, B = 3.0 and so on) multiplied by its credits, added across grades 9 to 12, and divided by total credits. Add Honors and AP bonuses for the weighted version. Leave future years blank to see your GPA so far.
Worked example
Freshman year: 4 credits averaging 3.5. Sophomore year: 4 credits averaging 3.75, including one AP class.
- Grade 9: 3.5 × 4 = 14.0 quality points
- Grade 10: 3.75 × 4 = 15.0 quality points
Cumulative unweighted GPA: 29.0 ÷ 8 = 3.63. Adding +1.0 for the one AP credit gives 30.0 ÷ 8, so the weighted GPA is 3.75.

Frequently asked questions
How is high school GPA calculated?
Convert each grade to points, multiply by the course credits, add everything up and divide by total credits. Most high schools count each year-long class as 1 credit.
Do freshman year grades count?
At most schools yes, grade 9 is part of your cumulative GPA. Some colleges focus more on grades 10 and 11, so recent trends matter too.
Should I use my weighted or unweighted GPA on applications?
Report what your transcript shows. Many colleges also compute an unweighted GPA of their own, so know both numbers.
Can I enter percent grades?
Yes. Type 92 or 87.5 and it is converted to a letter and then to 4.0-scale points using standard cutoffs. Your school's cutoffs may differ slightly.
Do semester classes count as half credits?
Often, yes. Enter 0.5 credits for a one-semester class and 1 for a full-year class, or use whatever credit values your transcript shows.
Will this match my school's official GPA?
It is an estimate on the standard scale. Schools differ on weighting, repeated courses and rounding, so the registrar's number is final.
